SAMMY Hall of Famer Mark Hoffmann, along with Jo Anne Bakeman, Bob Purdy, and Liz Fiddle, make their first appearance at the 443 performing music from the Great American Songbook.
Mark Hoffmann’s Swing This!”, a Central New York band, plays acoustic swing music in the tradition of Django Reinhardt, Benny Goodman, and many others, and features the classic standards of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s. The band features Mark Hoffmann on guitar and vocals, Liz “Fiddle” Simchik on violin, Bob Purdy on bass guitar, and Jo Anne Bakeman on vocals. From beautiful ballads to driving rhythms that will bring a crowd to its feet and dancers to the dance floor, “Swing This!” brings fresh energy to music that has withstood the test of time.
Mark Hoffmann (Guitar/Vocals) is no stranger to Central New York Blues and Rhythm and Blues fans, and is known around the country for his blazing guitar work, soulful singing and songwriting. While under contract to CBS/Epic Records, his band, Jam Factory, nationally released an album and a single. Here at home he played with the Mary Haitz Band across New York State, and with Mojo Filter. Mark has now brought his powerful blues R ‘n B performance to fronting the Mark Hoffmann Family Band, which includes his son Gustav on bass, and his daughter Anna on vocals. In addition, he has brought together the ace musicians that form “Swing This!”, bringing a “hot jazz” treatment of the Great American Songbook to a wide audience.
