Between our lean start-up budget and the fact that I’ve always been an avid DIY-er, it was a given that we would be DIY-ing as many things as we could in this room. I wrote about some of them in my DIY and decorating blog Live From Julie’s House, I’ve included the links here if you’re interested in the details.
I camouflaged an ugly row of ceiling lights with DIY Drum Shade Crystal chandeliers.
I painted and stenciled 3 cocktail tables that the previous tenant had left in the room:
I made a decoupage sign using a thrift store oil painting, chalkboard paint and postcards I picked up on our last trip to Philly.
I made a bohemian wall hanging using yarn, copper couplings and a long stick:
The wall hanging is one of those projects that looks WAY better in person – I just couldn’t get it to look nice in a photo, so I haven’t done a blog post on it yet. You’ll just have to take my word for it that it looks super-cool.
When I couldn’t find sturdy small tables at a reasonable price, I made my own using used commercial table bases and unfinished wooden tops from the home improvement store.
