Wisconsin-based rootsy indie-folk band Dead Horses make their Syracuse debut on Saturday, August 17!
Dead Horses were first introduced to upstate NY earlier this year when they toured the east coast with The Brother Brothers. They stopped by the Folk Alley studio to record a live session in between shows – Linda Fahey had selected Dead Horses’ 2018 release My Mother the Moon as one of her top albums of the year.
After releasing their nationally-acclaimed 2018 album, which earned profiles from Noisey to Democracy Now!, Dead Horses spent the better half of the last year touring and recording. Blending elements of traditional roots with contemporary indie folk, Dead Horses writes music that is unflinchingly honest in its portrayal of modern American life, yet optimistic in its unshakable faith in brighter days to come.
Described by NPR Music as “evocative, empathetic storytelling,” My Mother the Moon earned a spot in No Depression’s “Best Roots Music Albums of 2018” list, and Rolling Stone Country declared the band an “Artist You Need to Know.” And it seems word made it all the way to legendary UK rockers THE WHO, who selected Dead Horses to open for them on their “Moving On!” tour this fall.
Please help us welcome this talented up-and-coming duo to The Listening Room at 443! SAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter Stephen Douglas Wolfe is opening the show.
Tickets will be available at the door for $20.
